Description

At Ultimate Beauty Academy, we’ve designed our Depigmentation Knowledge Training Course to help you understand the causes of skin pigmentation and how to treat them. This course is ideal for those who are starting their training to become beauticians or who want to refresh their skills as part of their ongoing career development.

As a beautician, you’ll deal with clients every day you suffer from uneven skin tones and discolouration. UV radiation is usually the culprit behind dark pigmentation on the skin, which can continue to develop if unthreatened and worsen over time. Other causes of pigmentation in the skin include genetic predisposition, photo-sensitising medications, the ageing process, and skin irritation caused by products.

Pigmentation can also result from other sources of inflammation like hormonal changes during pregnancy and menopause, acne, and endocrine disorders.

Understanding skin pigmentation is essential for the operation of your skincare treatments as it’s one of the top three skin concerns for members of the public. It’s only beaten by wrinkles and sagging as the most troublesome skin conditions. Pigmentation is one skin issue that can affect everyone, with 90% of Caucasians over 50 dealing with some form of skin discolouration.

This training course will give you the comprehensive knowledge you need to give your clients the confidence that you can treat their pigmentation. You’ll understand how product ranges can help tackle the cause of the pigmentation as well as the protocols around treatments you can recommend. Giving your clients the confidence that you’re an expert in depigmentation will encourage them to keep going back to you for treatments.

Course Outline

At Ultimate Beauty Academy, we designed our depigmentation training course for beginners and those who want to top up their skills. You can offer pigmentation consultations as an add-on to other treatments or as a standalone service for clients.

By the end of your course, you’ll have a much clearer understanding of depigmentation treatments that you can offer to your clients and build your portfolio.

Our depigmentation knowledge course offers both theory and practical work, giving you the knowledge that you need to personalise other treatments for your client’s specific skincare needs. You’ll be able to create a customised program of treatments to address your client’s skin pigmentation. It isn’t enough to just be able to suggest products for them to use, being able to give them a tailored package requires you have to have an in-depth understanding about the root causes of pigmentation.

One depigmentation treatment that we’ll focus on is mesosetetic cosmelan, a method of lightening skin blemishes that result from excess melanin production.

This treatment works by targeting the enzyme tyrosinase to prevent melanin production, allowing for the macrophagic cells to lighten the skin. The tyrosinase doesn’t entirely halt melanin production but it does temporary stop it to allow for treatment, without risking white blemishes. Cosmelan is a two-part treatment that you can carry out in your salon or clinic while offering a home-care treatment kit. Our training on this treatment will also touch on the importance of apply SPF sunscreen to protect the skin during the treatment process.

Cosmelan is one treatment you want to have in your portfolio. It’s been clinically proven to have one of the highest effectiveness rates, effectively treating 95% of sunspots in 99% of cases.

We’ll also cover how you can work with your client to address their skin concerns, taking into consideration their commitment to following through with the pigmentation treatment. You’ll be able to recommend various treatments, both products and facials, for your clients.

With our depigmentation training, you’ll learn about:
